Thought for the Week: Out of your mind

This Sunday we are hosting Rev. Arthur Hammons as our guest speaker sharing his topic of “Out of Your Mind.” I always find it an interesting challenge to write the Thought for the Week based on the Sunday message when I’m not the one giving the message! I can only surmise and tap into the cosmic Mind as to what his points will be.

When most of us utilize the expression “out of your mind”, we are typically assessing that the person is a little nutty. We’ll say, “Are you out of your mind?” when their words or actions seem out of the ordinary or just plain contrary to rationality. And yet, those may very well be the times when a person is most tapped in and tuned in to a higher Power operating through them.

Each of us is 100% involved in creating the world we experience, whether we are consciously aware of it or not. The AA Program has a saying something to the effect that “stinkin’ thinkin’ got me in this mess.” Thoughts are things. Thoughts create after their kind. And so, it behooves us to be aware of the direction our thoughts are taking.

What kind of life can you envision for yourself? Do you believe and trust there is a higher Power operating through you and available to you day and night? A familiar train of thought is that we cocreate our lives with the Divine. Made in the image and likeness of the Divine, God has given mankind authority to name and claim our life’s experiences. Be aware of your thoughts to consciously choose life enhancing ones. Say with me: “I take responsibility for the direction of my thoughts and choose wisely. Out of my mind comes my life experiences and they are good and very good. And it is so.”
