Three areas in downtown Alpine hit with unpleasantness

Cleaning up after the holidays gets a whole new definition when someone tags your place of business, or worse yet, your church with symbols and distasteful blurbs.  The Alpine Sun office, along with Primary Residential Mortgage, and the First Baptist Church of Alpine were the targets of people who had nothing better to do than spray paint slogans for chaos on walls and destroy private property.  This shameful act was done without thought, as the perpetrators did not consider the video camera at the end of the Alpine Square building, as well as the fact that the tagging of a church is a felony, and is bumped up to a hate crime when epithets are involved.

On Tuesday morning, a large area of the wall of the Primary Residential Mortgage Building was covered with a blatant tag and symbol in red spray paint, easily seen by anyone traveling on Alpine Boulevard.  Then it was noticed that the Alpine Sun Office Window was also ‘tagged’ with the same red paint.  Deputy Knight indicated that the Baptist Church was also ‘hit’, but they were severely vandalized, when he visited The Alpine Sun to collect evidence, and possible video footage.

The First Baptist Church had been tagged with unmentionable vulgarity, as well as symbols of anarchy and chaos.  There were scribblings on the walls regarding the ‘freeing of the earth’ and ‘there is no God’.  But the perpetrators took their vandalism a step further into destruction of private property by damaging the mail box, breaking lights fixtures and removing an American Flag only to replace it with their own, poorly made substitute of black polyester, painted with an indistinguishable symbol.

Luckily, the people at the First Baptist Church are diligent in keeping their facility clean and free of filth.  Immediately, work was underway to repair and paint over the disgusting irritation of hateful boredom.  If you or anyone you know has any knowledge of who was responsible for these acts against innocent people, please notify The Alpine Sheriff’s Department.  Any information you may be able to provide will help to keep Alpine a clean and friendly place to live and work.
