The long awaited Alpine Library broke ground mere months ago, but the construction is progressing very nicely. The steel girders are beginning to create the very bones of the building. As Alpine eagerly awaits their new progressive information center, they are watching as each shovel of soil is turned and each machine moves more ground to make way for the promise of the new and exciting complex.

The following are the Frequently Asked Questions, as answered by the Friends of the Alpine Library:
1. Where will it be built and how big will it be?
The Library will be built on the west side of the Alpine Community Center, (ACC). The County bought this property from the ACC in 2009 expressly a s the site for the Library. It will be approximately 13,000 square feet.

The south facing , or front side , of the Library will extend into the present parking lot (which he County owns) . The north faci ng , or rear side, of the building will extend into the park, but will not reach the present stage location. Thus, the impact to the park is minimal.

The County has paid the ACC to relocate the stage.
4. How much will the Library cost and who ’s paying for it ?
The County has appropriated 10 million dollars for the buil ding of the Library. The community of Alpine will need to raise about $700,000 for furniture, fixtures, and equipment for the new building. About half of that amount has already been raised by ALFA –the Alpine Library Friends Association.

Community meetings ,held over a decade ,decided what the people of Alpine want in their Library.
