Electronic recycling is not new, but it is important.  Electronic equipment that has become obsolete is made from valuable resources and materials including metals, plastics and glass that can be recycled to create other valuable items.
By recycling these items we also can cut down on greenhouse emissions that are caused by mining, and manufacturing raw materials.  For example:
•  Recycling one million laptops saves the energy equivalent to the electricity used by more than 3,500 US homes in a year.

Before Donating or Recycling Your Used Electronics
•  For your computer or laptop, consider upgrading the hardware or software instead of buying a brand new product.
•  Delete all personal information from your electronics.
•  Remove any batteries from your electronics, they may need to be recycled separately.
The above information was taken from the Environmental Protection Agency Website.  When you are in need of a electronic recycling facility or event, watch your neighborhood, Alpine usually hosts one, once or twice a year.
