The County of San Diego has received 51 Achievement Awards from the National Association of Counties for its public service programs across a range of categories, including law enforcement, health, land use and environmental protection.

The awards recognize efforts to improve county services, support public health and safety, and promote community development. San Diego County received recognition in 15 categories.

Among the honored programs was one that educates youth in the Probation system about opioid misuse and trains them to administer Narcan, or naloxone, a medication that reverses opioid overdoses.

The Business Certification Program also received an award. It provides local businesses with resources to comply with public health standards, support employee safety and encourage public private collaboration.

Another recognized effort was the Campo Road Corridor Revitalization Specific Plan, which was shaped by community feedback. The plan calls for reducing a four lane road to two lanes while adding amenities for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.

The County was also awarded for its Neurodivergent Excellence: Inclusive Interviewing program. The initiative promotes accessible and supportive hiring practices for applicants with conditions such as autism, ADHD and dyslexia.
