The students and staff at Boulder Oaks are taking fitness to the next level with our physical education program.  Boulder Oaks’ mission is not only to provide rigorous academics for our students, but also to educate the whole child through the arts, character education, and physical fitness.  This year, in recognition of the research that clearly links physical activity to student achievement, we have worked aggressively to enrich our P.E.

The students and staff at Boulder Oaks are taking fitness to the next level with our physical education program.  Boulder Oaks’ mission is not only to provide rigorous academics for our students, but also to educate the whole child through the arts, character education, and physical fitness.  This year, in recognition of the research that clearly links physical activity to student achievement, we have worked aggressively to enrich our P.E. programs.  The students at Boulder Oaks are active in several ways throughout the school day including scheduled walk/jogs in the mornings and regular P.E. classes that include aerobics, boot camps, and team sports.  Recently, Boulder Oaks has added a fitness lab to their P.E. regimen.  With the help and support of the Hunter Family and our PTA, our school was able to purchase equipment to make this lab a safe and fun place for students to practice functional fitness.  Chappie Hunter, a local fitness expert and Boulder Oaks parent, plans weekly lessons using the Brand X Method. The teachers execute the lessons with the help of Chappie or his wife, Arlene.  Each lesson also has a strong academic component, incorporating classroom curriculum.  Examples include, students collaboratively building a bridge (linking P.E. and engineering) or building a skeleton (linking PE and science). Our students are getting fit, developing motor skills, and learning the concept of fitness for life. This is a lifetime investment!
