Alpine is in region 2. “Usually I’m at the barn with my daughter,” said Lynn Kaderabek whose son, Nicholas Kaderabek, 12, won the stock car division. “Winners will be going to Akron, Ohio in July,” said Fox Jr. “No super stock because there were only 8 kids and they did not have a race.” Official winners that are eligible to move on must compete against a set minimum of racers. The Soap Box Derby started in 1934 and is a youth soap box car racing program. World championships are held at Derby Downs in Akron, ohio. The cars rely solely on gravity to move. Fifteen stock racers competed for a chance to go to Akron, Ohio and compete in the national event.
